Nile Rugs is a New Zealand owned business that specialises in handwoven antique rugs from the Middle East. The brief was to create a logo that incorporates the Nile river and a rug.

The design is inspired by the Turkish and Persian folk symbol for running water that has been ‘woven’ together to represent the idea of water + tapestry. The final outcome of this is a geometric pattern, which is also common in Middle Eastern art. The brand colours were also chosen to reflect the theme: royal blue for the Nile river and a dusty gold to reflect the ancient Middle East.
